Procrastination is often a symptom of not feeling secure with our actions. Our lack of action is often excused as waiting for perfection. We get stuck much longer in the learning stage and fail to move on to the action phase of most projects.
Confidence results in action.
When you are confident in your product, you will not wait to launch it. When you are confident in your skills, you will not wait for inspiration to write that report or the book you want to publish.
When you are not yet confident, you tend to get stuck in the learning and development phase.
The Quickest Way To Learn Is To Do
This is the core message in movements such as the Lean Startup or Agility techniques in business. Software professionals release products in progressive versions. A product with version 1.2 has an improved code which resolved the bugs discovered in version 1.1 and so on for each succeeding version of the product.
The fastest way to get moving on any project is to start acting on it. You can start small as long as you stick to this small action daily.
With each small step you take, your confidence will grow. And as your confidence improves, you will notice that performing these actions become more natural and enjoyable.
What inner (and outer) personal development have you been putting off lately?
Stop letting your insecurity become a bottleneck in your productivity and switch to a more action-focused way of living.
