The focus is on listening to people rather than telling them what to do. A leader who shows restraint allows her team to communicate their ideas in a meeting rather than taking up all the space to communicate her opinions.

An empowering leader not only takes responsibility for his actions and decision but also insists on learning from them. 

Employees shrink back when their bosses test them for answers instead of ideas. Ask questions and be open to learning from your teams. Nobody enjoys working for a know-it-all.

You don’t have to give the answers. Just provide enough information and to help people discover and see the opportunity for themselves.
