Negative people share some key characteristics. Even if you think of yourself as a positive person, you may be exhibiting traits of negativity that are depleting your energy and turning others off. Here are some signs of negativity in your life and ways that you can reverse the habit.
You Love Telling Other People What to Do
Really think about this one before you dismiss it as something you don’t do. Do you love being in control? Are you the group planner? Do you watch over your co-worker, spouse or friends as they are completing a task? If you love telling other people what to do, this is a sign that you are not comfortable with letting things be as they are. Try focusing on you and let other people do as they will.
You’re Always Worrying
Are you a person who cannot fall asleep at night because you have a dozen things on your mind? Do you panic about what might go wrong? If you are a person who worries, you have pent up negative energy. Remember you cannot control the future or others; you can only control your own actions and your response to things that happen. There is absolutely no point to worrying.
You Complain
It’s too cold. The food is taking too long to arrive. Did you hear what she just said? I’m tired. I hate when people do that.
Do these sound like things that you have said? If so, you have behaved like a complainer and you have allowed negative energy to engulf you. I challenge you to go a single day without a negative comment. How does that feel?
