Saying ‘No’ To The Mundane Helps You Focus On The Essential Things In Your Life
We all have a bucket list – a wishful assortment of things we would like to do and achieve in this life. But few of us ever think of having a list of things we should be avoiding at all costs.
Is it important to have a list of “Don’ts?”
Time is a limited resource. If you fail to leverage it wisely, you will never achieve the things on your bucket list.
In order to have an effective bucket list, you first need a list of things you are going to say a solid ‘no’ to.
The Power Of ‘No’
We are forced to believe that saying yes is positive and saying no is negative. But when you say yes to everything, your life quickly goes out of balance.
You end up sacrificing your own needs to fulfill the desires of other people.
Saying no is about setting boundaries, ground rules for yourself. And often saying yes ends up being negative in the long run.
‘No’ is a powerful word. It shows strength. When you say no, other people will challenge and fight back and that’s okay. It’s their issue, not yours.
Who and what do you struggle to say no to?
Why does this happen?
What do you feel when you say no to this person or event?
It takes courage to say no to a lot of things. But as Steve Jobs famously said, ‘focus’ is about saying no to 99 things so you can say yes to the ONE thing that is important.
Having a list of things you will not waste time on enables you to take care of all the things that are truly important to you.
