You’ve heard it before: no one is perfect. But what makes imperfection easy to handle is being able to not only recognize it, but also embrace it. In fact, the most respected, well-liked, and successful individuals amongst us are those who are able to laugh at their own shortcomings, admit when they’re wrong, and resist the desire to sulk in embarrassment.
Embracing Who You Really Are
Part of why being able to say, “Okay, I’m not good at this,” or “Dang, I really made a blunder there!” is so important that doing so is illustrative of embracing your true self. Again, no one is perfect, and we all have flaws. Maybe you’re clumsy, say something goofy or have a funny looking nose – whatever it is, being able to love yourself regardless is a huge part of energetics and happiness.
Flaws Make You More Relatable
Not only does embracing your flaws allow you to practice a little self-actualization and self-love, but having flaws – and acknowledging them – makes you more relatable, too! No one wants to be around someone who won’t laugh at themselves or admit when they’re wrong. The power to acknowledge shortcomings is empowering and respectable.
