It doesn’t matter how many life-changing events or coaches you consult with. Unless you make a firm decision to change your situation, no amount of outside help is going to make a difference.
You don’t need more money, more time, better health… more excuses to start living your dream life.
What you need to do is to make a decision.
A journey of a thousand steps begins with a decision. That much is clear. But when you make a decision, make sure you commit to it.
The Difference Between A Decision And An Intention
Most people fail in their success journey because they are operating on intentions. We all have positive intentions, to break addictions and improve the quality of our lives. But an intention can only carry you so far.
What you need is a FIRM decision.
You will notice that adding that extra word now makes your decision intractable. The only way to change old negative thoughts patterns and habits is by replacing them with healthy thought patterns and habits. And since habits take between 2-3 months to develop, you need to make sure you stay committed to change in that time period.
Commit To Your Decision
When you make a decision (to earn a certain amount of money, quit smoking, gain 5 Kg of pure muscle), there are other smaller choices that you will have to make to compliment the big goal. For instance, going to bed early so you can develop the habit of early morning workouts daily.
Make a commitment to your decision by adjusting your lifestyle to accommodate the changes required.
Want to quit smoking? Stop going out with your smoking friends. Want more money? Give up an activity that is not creating value to create space for additional income-generation.
In theory it sounds simple. In practice, you will always find that each challenge and hurdle you face tests your resolve.
Each obstacle asks you the same question, how firm is your decision to change?
