How you handle change and adapt to new circumstances determines how well you perform and the success you achieve overall.
IQ refers to intelligence and EQ to emotional understanding. AQ is the ability to adapt and thrive in changing environments.
Adaptability Requires Courage And Action
Every human being experiences several moments in their lives where they have to change and rise to the next level of performance. It takes courage to rise to the situation and make the changes necessary to move forward.
This process of change and adaptability begins by acknowledging the need for growth. People with high levels of AQ are able to perceive this need quicker. They also take ownership of their own development.
After assessing the situation, any change process requires an action plan. Without a strategy, it is likely that actions are in vain.
Finally, it takes a high level of AQ to execute change and keep acting on the goal even when the chips are down. Faced with insurmountable circumstances, those with a higher AQ are more resilient and see their actions through to the end goal.
Learn Something New Every Day
The key to improving your adaptability quotient is to try new things as often as possible. Learn new skills, make new friends, try new adventures, travel to new places and eat different varieties of food.
By allowing your body and mind to constantly be exposed to change, you build up a considerable tolerance to the uncertainty of new situations. This tolerance (or AQ) is highly useful to adapt to anything life throws at you.
