What's your love language?

What’s your love language?

There are five different love languages that we use to tell the people we care about how much they mean to us. The languages of love are not just for romantic partners; we use the five love languages to communicate with our friends, family, and children too.

Some of us communicate love in one of the five ways more than the other four, whereas other rely on all five frequently. Remember, just because someone shows love in a different way than you does not mean they don’t care. Think about how you show love this Valentine’s Day – is there a way that you could better show others that they matter? The five love languages are:

1. Gift Giving

People often use the act of giving gifts to express their love, especially around the holidays.

2. Quality Time

Spending time with those that you care about is one of the most meaningful ways to show how much you really care.

3. Words of Affirmation

Sometimes, we all need to hear just how much we mean to others. When was the last time you expressed to your partner, friends, or family how much they mean to you with your words?

4. Acts of Service (Devotion)

Acts of service and devotion mean many different things, ranging from doing things to please others to managing tasks to making sacrifices for others’ happiness.

5. Physical Touch

Physical touch doesn’t have to be intimate or romantic; a hand on the shoulder, a hug, and holding hands can all express love.
