3 Steps to Self Improvement
No one is perfect. And even if you’re as close to flawless as it gets, you certainly have areas that can be improved upon. Here are three steps to self-improvement to help you become a more efficient, effective, successful, and happy person:
- Identify Areas that Can Be Improved Upon
The first step in self-improvement is to identify areas that need improvement. It’s called gaining awareness. If you are not sure, ask a friend or trusted family member. Sometimes, you may be unaware of your own shortcomings.
- Put a Plan in Place
The second step is to formulate a plan that addresses the problem areas identified in step one. How will you go about working to correct or improve upon these items? Make sure that your plan is active and has a time line to take action. For example, don’t just say: “I’ll get better in regards to handling stress.” Instead, say, “To help me handle stress, I am going to keep a journal every night where I write down stressful things and let go of them.” Then do that step and if you stop go back and start once again to get into the habit.
- Solution: Inner Reflection and Firm Resolution
The third step to self improvement is to reflect upon your progress – have you improved? Is there more improvement to go? Did your plan not work? What else needs to be done? When will you take action on the what?
