Take a look at your life. What things in it are the result of decisions that you have made freely and with joy, and which are the result of decision that you felt pressured into making? In fact, ask yourself this: You have a day totally free – where do you spend it? What do you do? How would doing so make you feel?
Too often, we don’t know the answers to these questions or how we got to the spot we are today. This is sad because your place in life should be the result of conscious steps and choices.
So how do you break away from the limitations that you have put on yourself and achieve the life that you really want?
Spend Some Time Defining What You Want
The most important thing is self-actualization, where you take a good, long, hard look at yourself and figure out:
- *Your place in life;
- *What your values are;
- *If your current actions align with your values; and
- *What you want moving forward.
Spending time really defining what you want in life is critical. Make sure you also define why you want it.
Make a Plan
The biggest thing that holds people back from getting to where they want to be are their own limitations that they set on themselves such as fear, feelings of failure, worry about disappointing others and the like. The first step of your plan should be to acknowledge each of these limitations, and say goodbye to them. Then, take the steps necessary to create a plan that puts you on your personal path towards happiness.
