A cage is a structure that we build to contain an animal or an activity that is potentially dangerous. Our thinking patterns over time create cages for our emotions. We lock ourselves inside structures of our own making. But in this scenario, the cages we build are to protect us from outside dangers.
Our past experiences become stories that help us add meaning to our lives. Most of us are living outdated stories.
Our outdated narratives have become our cages.
When we see something that threatens our confidence and challenges our ideologies of life, we retreat into the comfort of our cages. From inside the cage, the world seems much safer and easier to navigate.

Freedom From The Cages Of Our Own Expectations
The good news is that you can break free from the barriers that you have constructed yourself.
Start by letting go of fear.
Next, admit to yourself that it is okay to not have all the answers. In fact, you might be wrong about a lot of things.
Be open to hearing other people’s perspectives and opinions on matters that are important to you. For instance, you might be caged by the expectation that you need to be married, with 3 kids, a beautiful family home and a dog by your 38th birthday. The closer you get to that day, the more pressure builds up from your own expectations for your life.
Reset your expectations and start looking at life through a new lens. Free yourself from the confines that you have built for yourself.
