With Halloween right around the corner, now is a great time to talk about stress management during the holidays. Halloween can certainly be a stressful holiday for those with kids – from running around with excitement about costumes and trick-or-treating to sugar highs from too much candy – you’ll have a lot on your plate. Here are some tips for coping:

Make a Plan

Do not wait until the last minute to make a plan about holiday activities and what will happen when. Waiting until the last second to figure things out is extremely stressful.

Hold off on the Sugar

Regardless of the holiday, watch the sugar consumption of yourself and your family. While treats are certainly tasty, they will leave you feel depleted and drained. Sticking to healthy foods are best for mental and physical health.

Ask for Help

You can’t do it all so don’t expect to. Instead, ask for help from your spouse, family members or professional help from colleagues when needed.

Take Breather

Try to take a minute every time you’re feeling stressed to step away from the situation and take a deep breath. Remind yourself it will be okay.
