#1 Work Backwards In Time
Look through your emails starting at the very beginning. The older emails you have long forgotten about are the ones to be deleted first. Start getting your inbox in shape by sorting the emails in reverse chronological order.
#2 Archive Your Emails
Place important emails in folders and sub folders to move them out of your inbox. You can even set up a rule to move messages from a certain address to a designated folder.
