Time and energy are limited resources. When you spread them thin, there is less impact than a focused effort in one area.
When you say yes to multiple opportunities, you end up being overwhelmed. If your calendars and to-do lists are overloaded, chances are you are busy achieving marginal success.
Big success follows those who do a few things well. Successful people never lose their focus in trying to do too many things at the same time.
Success Is The Result Of Subtraction
To do fewer things more effectively, you need to strip your to-do list to the bare minimum.

The problem is, we believe that success is the result of adding more on to our plate. But without cutting existing responsibilities, this results in missed deadlines, disappointments, stress, lack of sleep, long work hours and missing precious moments with family and friends.
Every new opportunity or connection you say yes to adds more responsibility to your existing schedule.
There are side effects that may not be evident at first. Ask yourself if the meetings on your calendar are really necessary? Do you need to attend that conference this weekend that will leave you feeling exhausted on Monday and your kids disappointed that you were not home all weekend?
Going small gets you to the point. It gets you to the one thing that you should be working on. Not the rest of the things you could be working on.
