You may think that you’re too old to start your own business, and that such affairs should be left to the millennials of the world. However, starting a business in your later years (after 45) is ideal – you probably have more money, work experience and vision than your younger version of yourself would. Here are some tips to help you along the way—
Understand Your Financial Health
Obviously, if you want to start a business, you’ll need some funding to do so. Take a look at your financial picture – are you in good shape? Will you need money from other sources? If so, how will you raise it?
Know What You’ll Need to Run Your Business Successfully
You have a great business idea but unless you have the resources and skill sets to back up that idea, you may be left floundering. Will you need to hire staff or specialists (i.e. a great chef or barista)? Will you need to go back to school for any certifications? What will running this business take?
