Why You May Be Failing to Grow in the Workplace
Have you been at the same job for years but in the same position without any promotions or evolution in tasks? If so, you are probably wondering why you have failed to grow in your role. Here are a few explanations that may apply to you:
You Are Hard to Work With
Ask yourself this: if you asked five of your colleagues whether or not they thought you were emotional, would they say yes? If so, this could be a sign that you are too emotional and therefore too difficult to work with.
You Haven’t Expressed Interest
If asked what you want from your career and what you are looking for in the future, do you know the answer? If not, this may be why you may be stagnating – you simply have not expressed any interest for growth. Take some time to really get to know yourself and what you want.
You’re Not Applying Yourself
Bosses can tell when you are resigned, lazy or uninterested. Are you applying yourself to the best of your abilities? Is there something you could be doing more for yourself, the company or to get recognized? It might be time to step it up a notch or consider looking for employment elsewhere.
