Slow Down To Hurry Up | 4 Steps That Lead To More Productivity

Slow down to hurry up.

You may wonder how some people have all the time in the world to do all the things in the world and still be exceptionally good at everything they do.

It’s time to take a breath and slow down.

Part of the answer lies in slowing things down so you’re not mindlessly rushing through unproductive tasks.

How do high-performance individuals increase productivity?

Slow Down And Take A Break

According to research, the longest you should work on a task without taking a break is 50 minutes to an hour.

A work break is not to be used for checking email, social media, or texting.

Instead, getting up from your seat and taking a short walk before resuming concentration on the task boosts productivity.

In the long run, regular holidays and weekends completely away from work prevent burnouts.

Avoid the Unnecessary

Real work is producing quality output. You can work hard all day and have nothing to show for it if you spend your time on things that do not contribute to your professional progress.
Decide if a task is worth your time by the quality of its output to your main goals. If it’s not essential, just say, ‘no.’

Decide On Your Major Action Steps

If there were only 5 major moves to make your most ambitious dream a reality, what would they be?

Highly successful people can tell you what they’re working on and why that order, in exacting detail.

Their calendars reflect their priorities – they can show you the blocks of time allocated to their major goals. They even allocate time for social activities, rest, and workouts. ‘Failing to plan is planning to fail’ rings true for them.

Improve Competency In Key Skills

To become more productive, you have to improve your competency. You need to get insanely good at building key skills.
Repetition does not build key skills. You can’t do the same thing over and over and expect the same result (some describe that as insanity).

Determine a skill you want to master and set specific goals for that skill that will stretch you.
