Mastering your self requires conquering your fears and overcoming the resistance that distracts you from your true calling.
Self-Mastery Conquers Fears
You need to know what your own personal challenges are before overcoming them. What are you afraid of? What pulls you away from your work?
Fear is a good indicator of the direction your life needs to take. If you are afraid of something, take firm steps in that particular direction. You will notice that fears dissipate like bubbles when you are courageous enough to prick them with your finger.
Walking away from a challenge because you are afraid will prevent you from doing your work. Because the fear creeps into every aspect of your life and prevents you from realizing your potential.
Self-Mastery Requires Overcoming Resistance
The athlete is aware that he will never wake up pain-free as long as he is training for excellence. He bears the pain and plays anyway. To be so tuned to your purpose is a form of self-mastery.
All worthwhile things are difficult. Those who are willing to put in the effort overcome the resistance.
