How To Feel Truly Relaxed On A Vacation

The holiday season is fast approaching and for most, this vacation is not going to be a relaxing break.

There are family plans to be made, flights to catch, food and gifts piling up as the bank balance dwindles. It could turn out to be the most stressful time of the year.

Enjoy The Lead Up To The Vacation

Planning does not have to be stressful. Often the period just before a vacation ends up being stressful. The long hours and worrying about how things will be when you are on holiday leads to a decrease in your immune system’s ability to ward off viruses. As a result, people often fall sick just before or on the first few days of a big holiday.

Stick to your exercise and mindfulness routines in the weeks before a holiday. 

The lead up to a break can be the most enjoyable part of the vacation. You are free to daydream and feel excited about the holiday.

Let the anticipation build and focus on the positive aspects of the holiday season. 

Engage In Pleasurable Activities

Relaxing is not the end-goal of a holiday. Engaging in activities you like and with people whose company you enjoy adds to the pleasure of a holiday.

Sometimes, you will have to face a relative that causes your blood to boil. Visualize yourself having a great conversation with them, avoid arguments and seek to understand them better on this vacation.

Avoiding emails from work and indulging in social media during the holiday is a good idea. Detach yourself from your daily routines and engage in activities that boost your wellness.

Finally, try to return from the holiday midweek. Facing a couple of days before the weekend is an easier way to ease back into your regular routine than facing the mountain of emails on a Monday morning.

Not every vacation you take will live up to the hype and excitement. But with a little planning and a few adjustments, you will end up savoring the memories and feel truly relaxed at the end of it.
