Goal setting is one of the most important parts of personal development and taking the first steps to success. But ineffective goal setting will not do you any good, especially when you’re not following those goals. Here are some tips for setting and reaching your goals this year:
Reflect On Your Current State
How will you know what you need to improve upon and areas where you need to grow if you aren’t sure what your current state is? Take some time to thoroughly look at your current situation – what is okay? What could be better? Where do you want to be in life?
Use the SMART Method
The SMART method for goal setting is a way to get specific and set goals that are actually realistic. The method stands for:
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Attainable
R – Realistic
T – Time
The last part, T – Time, means that you goal should be accompanied by a timeframe in which you want to accomplish it in.
