One of life’s greatest lessons is this: the world is abundant enough for all. Drawn on concepts proposed by Julia Cameron (and myriad others), this means that there is enough for everyone in the world. As such, it means that there is no limit on what the world has to give; there is enough for you, and enough for others, and therefore negativity, competitiveness, unhappiness, and jealousy should not thrive. And yet these things do thrive – why?
Understanding That the World Has Enough to Give
There is a fear in us that another’s success or happiness detracts from ours. If someone is “better” than us at something, we assume that we are “less” good, and therefore inferior. We also believe that we will never be “as good.” When we become wrapped in these emotions, jealousy, inferiority, and negativity all form.
The truth of the world is that there is no limit to what we can learn, receive, or give. Good things are given freely by the world, and you do not need to compete for them. Further, to quote Cameron, remember that “[Your] good coexists with the good of others.”
Accepting Life’s Abundance
How do we accept all of the good that life has to offer? Opening your heart up to it. Open your heart to goodness. Allow goodness in your life. Focus on goodness.
