Prosperity means something different to each person. What is prosperous to one is not nearly enough for another. Your prosperity often depends upon the choices your parents made and shared with you about money. In most cases parents didn’t share much about prosperity. Most parents told their children that the harder they work the more you would earn. They also often said that money doesn’t grow on trees. Another choice phrase we’ve heard used is “Money is the root of all Evil”. One of my least favorite sayings from a parent is “We can’t afford it.”

Now intellectually we know these are not true, but in actuality we usually operate under these false beliefs. These beliefs are held in our cells even if we have done a lot of healing work to make a change. The challenge is that we are so good at intellectualizing that we do not harbor these beliefs that they become more difficult to recognize. We are working at doing everything/anything in our power to make a better life for ourselves, which often keeps us stuck in the “work more” syndrome.
