Google’s Moment to Pause in 2 Minutes

is a fast paced environment that provides a push for innovation, creativity and intensity. With intensity comes the need to pause. The reason you need to pause is that the body and mind are designed to function optimally when they have gaps, pauses, breaks, time-outs or whatever you’ll call them. If the body and brain do not get this then it begins a rapid sequence of breaking down.

First the energy breaks down and when the energy breaks down the body will have the tendency to get sick more easily. Second the brain loses its elasticity. Often it seems the rebels are young and that’s because their minds are more elastic. This means that there is less rigidity when there’s more flexibility. Thirdly the tendency to blame others increases. Then the organism is just too exhausted to function.

Sheevaun O’Connor Moran has written the quintessential book about taking 2 minute pauses. This book is aimed at the innovators, rule breakers, creatives, and over achievers. It is aimed at the mom who really really needs a break/pause. The aim is at the busy mind that cannot shut off before sleep and thus doesn’t get a good nights sleep very often.

Mindful Communications

Mindful Communications

Most days we walk through the day without much thought about how we will communicate. We speak to our family in the same old way. Our chatter with the store clerks is fleeting. The emails we send are filled with our wants, needs, desires and demands. Where is the communication that is filled with goodness and intention?

We say our intention is to communicate with love and kindness, but is that really true? If that were so true then our own inner voices would be much kinder and loving. The thought towards someone who is homeless would be of gratitude that they have the courage to be there and that you are able to help even if only with a kind word. Our inner dialogue towards someone who is obese would be much nicer – maybe something like Bless them for healing their wounds. Our frustrations towards the little things that aren’t going right would be to cut the cord, give yourself grace and turn to the next thing. The energy we emit when interacting with someone we aren’t in agreement with would be of love and forgiveness.

Plato mindfulness

When you are mindful in your communication in the quiet inner voices that reach outward then you are being mindful on all levels. The most intense energy comes from our disdain inside and not what we are saying verbally. Truth is another one of those communications that we want to include in our mindfulness exercises and know that mindfulness is truly a muscle that must be exercised every day. The reason for this is that we are filled with so much negativity in the media that it exercise of the mind for intentional goodness is imperative for it to be natural.

Our entire existence would be filled with the ability to Mastering Our Energy, which helps us master our mind and ultimately our life.

Tell me where you’re being more mindful in your inner speak, outer speak, with your staff, family, friends and people that don’t look the way you do.

Meditation Myths

meditationMost people avoid meditation and yet they are actually doing some form of meditation every single day. Yep, that’s right you are likely meditating on something and likely right now.

You say, Nah I’m reading this blog. In fact you are likely meditating on the fact that you “should” be doing something else. You may be meditating on the fact that your check book is needs balancing or you “need” to finish… well you fill in the blank.

**You have to give your beliefs up and give over to something strange:  The thing is that meditation is not such a foreign concept or action. It has been portrayed in the movies and media as a giving over of control. If you choose to give over control that must be a choice, your choice and so don’t blame meditation.

**It’s going to take too long to get good at meditation AND it takes too much time out of my day:  This is not true that it takes years to master meditation. The only time you need is TWO minutes and just like my book states you can learn to meditate in two minutes and you can get great benefit from meditating for only TWO minutes.

**I have to have a quiet mind in order to meditate: Well this is absolutely impossible. The only time you’re going to have a quiet mind is when you are no longer in your body. Your mind is not meant to be quiet however, it is meant to be harnessed. The mind is meant to be overcome and to be mastered and as soon as you let go of the need to have quiet is the sooner you will achieve a more peaceful mind. The monkey mind is the gift of the human race and our will and learned behaviors are the most valuable things we have to overcome and master in each lifetime.

80 Year Old Email

April 22nd, 2011 - Posted in Health | Tags: , , | No Comments »

I had an email conversation with one of our customers who is 80 years old. She emails regularly and has been using our meditation CDs for the past few years. Her latest email told me that she urgently needed our Violet Waterfall With Angels CD and how fast could we get it to her.

Apparently she lent it to a friend and her friend refuses to give it back because it’s now her favorite. Well my 80 year old customer is quite handy with email and she wasn’t interested in a download, but wanted that CD sent ASAP.

For some reason technology wasn’t working to process her order and she called us at 3am so that she could replace her CD. She had been up early and wanted her meditation morning and without her CD she was having a difficult time sleeping.

I thought WOW what a driven woman who knows what she wants and is committed to her journey of self improvement, inner peace and transforming her friends even though she’s 80. I also say “You GO girl”.

No matter how old you are, it’s never too late to get started on your self growth journey. No matter what condition your mind or body the soul always gets the healing, energy and transformation.

Meditation, Medicine, Science, Yogis, and CEO’s

Meditation, Medicine, Science, Yogis, and CEO’s

Meditation is older than anything we can imagine. It predates the Romans and the Upanishads. Meditation has been around Lotus Bestsince the first time man looked with wonder at the sky after hunting or gathering and holding that space of peace and inner confidence.

Over the past many thousands of years we have danced between liking then loving meditation all the way to debunking meditation. At this particular point in time we are engaging more and more with science and spirituality, which allows us to embrace meditation.

As we embrace the possibility that meditation is the very key to relieving pain over morphine or aspirin and that meditation is the actual solution to youth and vitality (more…)

Eliminate Seasonal Stress

Stress happens year-round, not just during the holiday season. Still, there is so much going on during holidays, from deadlines to people you must see, plus budget worries and even the pressure to have fun (yes, pressure). Stress is also a huge contributor to the nation’s #1 killer: Heart disease (studies have found it to be related to 80% of all diseases).  Let’s face it, stress is not going to completely and miraculously vanish from our lives, but we can learn to reduce and manage it successfully.

Here’s a four step approach created by coaching in the corporate boardrooms.:
1. Stop – Tell your mind to STOP before you have thoughts that take over your mind and body. The brain doesn’t understand NO but it really gets (more…)
