Google’s Moment to Pause in 2 Minutes

is a fast paced environment that provides a push for innovation, creativity and intensity. With intensity comes the need to pause. The reason you need to pause is that the body and mind are designed to function optimally when they have gaps, pauses, breaks, time-outs or whatever you’ll call them. If the body and brain do not get this then it begins a rapid sequence of breaking down.

First the energy breaks down and when the energy breaks down the body will have the tendency to get sick more easily. Second the brain loses its elasticity. Often it seems the rebels are young and that’s because their minds are more elastic. This means that there is less rigidity when there’s more flexibility. Thirdly the tendency to blame others increases. Then the organism is just too exhausted to function.

Sheevaun O’Connor Moran has written the quintessential book about taking 2 minute pauses. This book is aimed at the innovators, rule breakers, creatives, and over achievers. It is aimed at the mom who really really needs a break/pause. The aim is at the busy mind that cannot shut off before sleep and thus doesn’t get a good nights sleep very often.

The Anti-Chaos Meditation Makes For a Better Leader

How is it thatMeditation and choas meditation is so good for you and yet it seems so hard to do? It’s supposed to bring about peace but in many cases it brings its own frustrations.

I was there and had so much “monkey mind” going on and tried everything. Nothing worked.

Fast forward through corporate years, a near death experience because of stress and misdiagnosis and a doctor that told me to learn to meditate and eat more living food meaning vegetables.

Chaos comes from the worries and fears of “not” being good enough, perfect enough, happy enough, successful enough, on top of your list enough and so on. It is a dangerous place this chaos thing,

It takes us out of our body and into the space above our heads. This is exactly when chaos is amped. Once you are not in the here and now or this very moment you are inviting chaos.

Some would say I have ADD but really what I have is a lot of energy and that energy can be focused, so long as I am clear and present.

I wrote a book that took 7 years to complete because of the chaos I allowed into my mind about the book. It is now complete and is much more clear because I spent the time to be present each time I wrote or edited. I would love for it to be a bestseller because it takes the very principles that my doctor told me to learn and brings them to the entrepreneurial mind, the business setting, the home and nature.

All these things are necessary to ensure that a well rounded life can be achieved with less and less chaos. It’s like we are in training to overcome the learned behaviours of chaos. That’s why I wrote “Learn to Meditate in 2 Minutes for the Lazy, Crazy, and Time Deficient”.

In our chaotic and busy world we can allot at least 2 minutes, at least that’s what I discovered when I trained major corporations how meditation can be done at the office. Will you give yourself 2 minutes here and now? Yes, good.

I’ll give one technique away that is in the book that is so simple you may not want to use it. It’s so simple that you may think it’s too simple to be effective. It’s so simple that you’ll want to forget it. Are you ready?

Take your left index finger and touch the tip of your nose. Do this by gently tapping your nose tip and breath. Notice how much more present and aware you are in this very moment. Notice that you have are able to be involved in what is in front of you. If you do this for 2 minutes you will have meditated and will have brought focus to a good chunk of your day.

Your discount code for the book Learn to Meditate in 2 Minutes (hard copy, ebook or audio) is CHAOSNO. Enjoy

Detox for Body, Mind and Emotions

detoxLately I’ve been speaking a lot about detox and most people think that when you detox it’s only the body that detoxes. This is only the partial truth. When your body is detoxing, your mind and emotions will detox as well. It’s a good idea to have some preparation for ease of the process. Here are some simple steps below. Remember that in order for the greatest benefit you will want to have a guide help you with detoxing so that you gain deep and lasting benefit rather than just a slimmer waist for a few days.

Nutrition: The most widely produced fruit (and we treat it like a veggie), tomatoes have now been found to be good for your vascular system. Research published in the journal Molecular Nutrition & Food Research reveals that an extracted compound found in tomatoes has anti-dyslipidemic affects. Dyslipidemia is a condition caused by abnormal amounts of lipids like cholesterol or fat in the blood. Tomato, with already established benefits against prostate cancer and more, was found to enhance fatty acid oxidation, and to regulate liver lipid metabolism.

Psychology: Want a new job this year? Stand up straight. Research published in the January issue of Psychological Science indicates that a person’s posture may be a deciding factor for whether they land a coveted position, even when the person on the other side of the desk is in a more powerful role. The findings show that “posture expansiveness,” or positioning oneself in a way that opens up the body and takes space (standing tall or sitting without hunching the back or constricting the arms, for example,) actually activates a sense of power in the self, producing more powerful behaviors in a person regardless of their actual rank. Open postures also made people more active.

Heart: Spending too much leisure time in front of the TV or computer screen appears to dramatically increase the risk for heart disease.  According to research published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, people who spend more than two hours in front of the screen increased their risk of developing cardiovascular disease by 125%. Exercise might not help either, but reducing the number or recreational time you spend in front of a screen is key.

Taming the Inner Critic – Saying Yes When You Really Want to Say No

Learn-How-to-Say-NoIt’s often very difficult to say what you want. Sometimes you don’t even know exactly what you want until much later. You say yes and then realize that you had no desire to be in the yes. This is a spiraling cycle that’s create what I call “same same”. Meaning it doesn’t give you a door or window out of the same rut/cycle.

Our filters are based on “should’s” and the more of these you have the more you will not be able to say no easily. When you are looking outside yourself for anything you need then you are not able to say no. Trying to fix someone else before yourself can get you into the yes before no.

Rushing is a form of violence towards ourselves and others. Every time you rush with your answer you have the potential of saying yes when you mean no.

Take a breath after someone asks you for something. Take 3 breaths if you need. It doesn’t have to be the next day but a few breaths give space. When you have space you have charm and you will then make better yes decisions.

Breath pause and breath and then give your answer.

Remember you CAN write and re-write your own history by saying what you truly want the very first time.

What Energy Do You Wear?

Violet_EnergyHave you ever thought about the energy you are wearing every time you walk out the door? Well I do.

I always think about energy and how it impacts others. Nearly all my life I’ve been told I’m too sensitive, however we sensitive people tend to walk around with a different perspective. My perspective is about the clothes I wear on the inside AND the outside.

Are You Breathing or Have You Forgotten How

How is it that 90% of Us Have Forgotten How to Breathe?

I didn’t know how to breathe properly until I took voice lessons. The reason for the voice lessons was that I really wanted to have a better voice and a louder voice. You see I spoke very softly and couldn’t always get people to pay attention to what I was saying.

I recall when my voice teachers would tell me, “wow, you need to learn to breath right”. What? I thought I was breathing right. I didn’t know there was a wrong way to breathe! I learned and then became very aware of breathing once I started (more…)

Gratitude for Healing Mind and Body

December 11th, 2010 - Posted in Health, Love, Peace | Tags: , , , , | 3 Comments »

It’s been about 2 weeks since I broke the left ankle and wow what a journey. I walk and talk in gratitude every day and each morning during meditation and yet this is a much deeper level of gratitude.

I have gratitude for the working right leg, which I sprained from overuse within the first few days of using crutches. I learned that the crutches had been fitted improperly. I’m that much more grateful for the right leg and that it works so well and keeps me balanced and strong.

I have gratitude for the arms, shoulders and hands which are carrying around the extra weight with crutches. It became difficult in the first few days of using crutches because the wrists hadn’t had that much continuous weight on them – ever. Now I have really good biceps and triceps.

I have gratitude for the mind that allows me to come up with very very creative solutions to get a glass of water from the sink to the sofa, to get my fountains filled, to take clothes from the hamper to laundry room, to get my purse contents and briefcase contents into a backpack that’s elegant and yet functional (glad I didn’t give this one away)., for the iPhone4 for the movies I get to watch in bed because I don’t have cable TV and for the creative pulley system I designed to get stuff (ie. phone, TP, water bottle etc)  from downstairs to upstairs without lugging or falling.

My gratitude is for the people who have said they won’t help me or be available to help me because I know that some day Creator will put something in their path that shows them the mistake.

My gratitude is HUGE for those that have stepped up to help:
- when my sink suddenly started flooding after I’d dropped a chocolate shake that went everywhere and was trying to clean up only to discover that the sink was flooding,
- when I couldn’t figure out how to get the bags from my trip upstairs with stuff I’d need later
- when it was too difficult to even think about feeding myself,
- when it was too exhausting to get out of the car one more time and put the mail into the box at the Post Office
- when my trash cans had been put out by someone and then some random person brought them back to the top of the driveway when they’d been out for days because there’s no way I could get them anywhere on crutches

Well, gratitude is everywhere and ever greater and ever deeper for the healing modalities I’ve created and learned along the past 20 years. I know that having no pain during this process and the doctors saying that the healing is going faster than they’d seen is due to what I know and have done so many times for others and now myself.

Thank you for being here and supporting one of the missions I have been put on this earth to accomplish, share wisdom, energy, healing and peace with as many as I can.

How Do You Get Your Spiritual Drink of Water

Water, it’s everywhere. We’re told to drink 8 glasses of water each day so that we flush toxins out of our bodies. Not many of us actually drink those recommended 8 glasses of water each day, but we know we should. The very same principle applies to the body and spirit needing a spiritual drink of water. This is one of the reasons that yoga and meditation are becoming more sought after, so that the body and spirit get replenished. This is why Oprah has a segment (more…)

The Knots Prayer

October 19th, 2010 - Posted in Energy, Peace | Tags: , , , | 1 Comment »

Today I was sent a random email and it is the truth that we each need to release. Release all those nots in your life. I call them n’ts – can’t, couldn’t, wouldn’t, shouldn’t, won’t, didn’t. They are only holding you back.

KNOT-prayer-smallerDear God

Please untie the know that are in my mind, my heart, and my life. Remove the have nots, the can nots and the do nots that I have in my mind.

Erase the will not, may nots, might nots that may find a home in my heart.

Release me from the could nots, would nots and should nots that obstruct my life.

Any most of all – Dear God – I ask that you remove from my mind, my heart and my life all the “am nots” that I have allowed to hold me back, especially the thought that I am not good enough.

Hugs to you on your journey out of not-land.
