When the weather is cold out and the sun refuses to shine, being motivated to do much of anything may be hard. Not only may you be feeling downright cold–which could result in you wanting to stay in doors snuggled under a pile of blankets–but the overall dreariness could be getting the best of your mood, too. If the lack of motivation is hitting you hard, here are some tips to get your spirits up and get your energy flowing again–
Make Cold Exposure a Challenge
This might sound a bit crazy, but rather than trying to fight the cold with blanket and layers and a general dismissal of winter, try to embrace it. There are multiple studies that show that cold exposure can be great for your health, even helping you to lose weight and combat disease! So instead of shying away from the cold weather, talk yourself into taking a walk in the winter every day. Not only will you feel proud of yourself for overcoming the challenge, but the exercise and being outdoors can help to boost your spirit, too.
Schedule Fun Things
Another way that you can beat the winter blues is to schedule a number of fun things to do, such as meeting friends for coffee or game night, making dinner plans at a new restaurant, or buying tickets to a comedy club. Try to plan at least one fun thing a week that you can look forward to.
