Here are two emotions you need to stop flirting with in order to succeed in your goals this year:
Self-Pity Results In Negativity
A pity party feels good at the moment. But it prevents you from facing the truth of your situation.
Feeling bad for yourself gives you all the excuses you need to quit or stop working hard. It allows you to blame other people or circumstances for the obstacles you are facing. It even gives you a feeling of superiority because you are facing insurmountable challenges.
What can you do instead? Stop complaining and write down a plan to overcome your obstacles.
Jealousy For Other People’s Success
Jealousy gives you permission to tear other people down if they make you feel bad about yourself.
The unfortunate truth is that you can never be like the person you envy. Do you hate wealthy people? You will likely never be wealthy. Perhaps you hate people who are disciplined and healthy? You will always find excuses to be indisciplined and develop unhealthy habits.
We all enjoy periods of sloth. But if you are being lazy because changing your situation is too hard, it’s time to simplify your goals.
Realize what’s really going on and call off the affair with these negative emotions. Quit complaining and finding excuses. Start by making small changes that eventually turn into successful habits.
