With the holiday season upon us, now is the time to think not just about what you are grateful for but how you can give thanks to your community, your family, and others in your life. Here are three ways to give back this holiday season:
1. Volunteer
Volunteering is one of the best ways to give back this holiday season. You can volunteer doing anything that you’re good at or passionate about, ranging from reading to children to tutoring adult English learners to working at a food bank.
2. Make Some Sacrifices
It is easy to get wrapped into the idea of getting during the holiday season rather than giving, and sometimes, indulgences can get out of hand. While there is nothing wrong with enjoying yourself, think about what you really need and what you don’t. Do you need gifts this year? How about three pies for Thanksgiving? What can you sacrifice and give to others instead?
3. Pay it Forward
The concept of paying it forward is simple: You do something for someone, and that act of kindness inspires them to do something kind for someone else, and so and so forth. Pay it forward this holiday season with random acts of kindness, compliments, and small favors.
