We like to believe that the system is broken. Blaming politicians has now become a favorite dinner conversation topic for adults. Yes, it’s easier to blame an abstract institution rather than blaming real people you know in person.
As part of a broken society, shifting the blame for our unhappiness on to a political system is a cop out.
Because it feels good to avoid conflict in the short run, we prefer not to pick fights with people in our actual sphere.
If you are waiting for society to change before your needs are met, you are facing down the long and inevitable barrel of disappointment.
Stop Blaming The System For Your Bad Feelings
The brain perceives itself as the centre of the universe. The harsh reality of mortality produces unhappy chemicals. But no system can protect you from those feelings.
Instead, you can learn to make peace with your internal system. Each person is free to choose blame, or to choose peace.
Do The Work & Seek Inner Peace
When you stop blaming the system, you are stuck with the awful realization that your happiness is now your responsibility. Fixing the political system seems to be easier than fixing yourself.
Take a good, long hard look in the mirror and start facing your fears.
Take action to fix the areas you can and then embrace yourself as you are. When you do the work, you realize that you are fine. The earth is going to continue spinning and in the grand scheme of things, your life is just a blip.
So why not allow peace to fill your internal system and stop worrying about the external system?
