Have you been accused of being absent minded? Even if you haven’t, everyone has experienced a time at some point in their life where they aren’t paying attention or just can’t seem to focus. If you’re struggling with this, here are some tips for improving focus and combating absent mindedness–
Make a List
Can’t remember what you need from the store? Know that there were a few things you had to do today but you can’t possibly remember what? The best way to remember these things is to write them down or make a list. Lists help us to stay organized and the physical act of writing something also helps to commit it to memory, too.
Only Do One Thing at Once
Another way that you can improve your focus is to try to only do one thing at once. If you’re working, focus on one project. If you’re having a conversation, have that conversation – don’t check your phone. If you’re at the gym, focus on your body and what you’re feeling, not what you need to do that day.
If you’re not organized, this can take over your efforts to be focused and diligent. Clutter can be distracting and overwhelming, so be sure to always put it away. The best way to do this is to clean up as you go; such as washing dishes as soon as you use them, putting away laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer, etc.
