Hey, Sheevaun Moran here. Driving for Your Success. Today I want to talk a little bit about judgment. Judgment’s one of those tricky things, because it has a positive and it has a negative. One of the positive aspects of judgment is it helps you make good decisions. When you’re judging that means your experience has helped you make a good decision. However, there’s also another part of judgment which is not so good. That’s when maybe you don’t have enough information about a person, a place, or a technique, or technology, and you judge it as bad. If you imagine that Edison had a lot of judgment against him as to why people would need electric lights to just switch on, until it became really inevitable that everybody could really benefit and there could be a lot of prosperity gained by a lot more electricity. I mean, it’s also the same thing that Ford ran up against with cars and automobiles saying, “Well, we can really do well with horses. Why do we need a motorized vehicle?”
We have all of these judgments that we make, whether it’s about somebody who meditates, or somebody who creates a program that we don’t quite understand, or what kind of value they’re bringing. When we judge others, we’re judging ourselves. We’re actually stopping ourselves from having the greatest level of success possible. Really think about how you’re judging, who you’re judging and what you’re judging. Is it a product, a program, a person? Is it a technique? I do my very best to give the other person the benefit of the doubt always, always, always. Where are you judging and where can you cut the cord?
