Hey, Sheevaun Moran here. I was thinking today about systems. The first of the year is the time when you’re really just revving up and ramping up and getting things ready for rocking a full year. The really interesting thing about systems is if we were in corporate, if you were in corporate at any point in your life, you will know in the back of your mind somewhere that systems suck. Most of the time they’re just so broken. When you go out on your own, what your discover is that you know what? I’m just gonna be free and flow with it and that’s how we’re gonna get clients. Things are gonna grow ’cause that’s just the way that feels good.
At some point in time, what’s going to have to happen is you’re gonna need systems. You’re going to need a system to schedule clients. You’re going to need a system for sales. You’re gonna need a system for capturing leads. You’re going to need a system for follow up. You’re going to need a lot of different kind of systems and the crazy cool thing is the internet is so filled with lots of system opportunities. There aren’t that really that are just really rockin’, in my humble opinion, so we use very few.
Actually, my policy is, “How many of these can we integrate into one so we can be super, super efficient and not try to patch things together?” As you grow and expand and really shift and change your reach, what you’ll want is a better system. If you don’t start here with this system, you can be sure that anything that you’re bringing along and bringing people into is totally not gonna work. Where are you with your system?
Are you up-leveling? Are you looking at what you’re doing? Are you giving yourself the 12 month review? At the end of the year or the beginning of the new year, it’s a good idea to just look at everything and say, “Hm, is there any way if I were to not have anything left of my business or left of my job, what would I do? What would I do differently and what would I really make different so that I can make that impact?”
Where are you with systems? Is your heart system and your head system on the same page? If they’re not, you can be sure that systems are gonna break. Things that shouldn’t break or shouldn’t seem like they should break are gonna break. Get your heart in the game. Get your head on straight. “I think I can! I think I can! I think I can!” is a great little tool. If you don’t know what else to do, try that.
