There is a right (and wrong) way to respond to criticism.
Online media has opened the floodgates to criticism from people you have never met (and likely will never meet). More than ever, critics are hiding behind the curtains of anonymity while dishing out uninvited opinions.
While some criticisms are simply disagreements (although with great points), some are vicious and angry responses meant to bring you down.
Nobody attacks bad content. It’s only when you are good that people start criticising you. Take it as a compliment.
Instead of succumbing to the level of your critics and lashing out at them, learn to use criticism to your advantage.
Use The Criticism To Become Better
Your critics are usually the only ones who will directly tell you the facts you need to improve your work.
Instead of lashing out at your critics, calmly assess how their feedback can make you better. You will be successful when you humbly listen to objective criticism and assess if it is useful to make your message more focused, clear and practical.
Invite Criticism, Don’t Avoid It
The hardest part is ignoring critics if what they are saying is untrue. If however, there is validity to their claims, admit it and use that information to be better the next time around.
People who obstruct your way can be valuable if you pay attention to what will help your cause. In retrospect, you will thank your critics as much as your fans for helping you focus your message to the right audience.
Extraordinary people invite criticism – they use it to fuel their progress to the next level.
