Some people numb the pain of the problems by resorting to substances like drugs. An escape from reality does nothing but increase the scope of the problems in the long-term.
Avoiding your fears will give you the shortcut to avoiding your problems. But avoiding problems avoids growth.
Confronting your fears and stepping in the direction of your pain will allow you to grow. And give you greater faith to confront your fears on the next level.
