Optimism refers to a general hope that everything will turn out just fine. People who are optimistic tend to believe that we live in the best of all possible worlds.
Optimistic people are positive about events in their daily life
While it might be misunderstood as a carefree and easy going attitude, being optimistic requires intentional emotional re callibration.
Optimism Is A Matter of Perception
The difference between a glass half-full or glass half-empty kind of person is how they perceive situations.
What does perception have to do with reality?
Optimists tend to explain positive or negative events as a cause of their own actions. They take ownership and explain events as correlated to their own worldview. They tend to take control of their own lives and will not passively settle for negative situations. They tend to create their own luck.
A pessimist, on the other hand looks outwards to blame others (or life) for their misfortunes. When good things happen to them, they tend to look for reasons to be dissatisfied with the outcome. They also tend to view lucky encounters as a one-off event.
What is your perception about luck? Do you believe that your life invites luck or do you assume that luck is a matter of rare coincidence?
Optimism Ignores Situational Challenges
A certain level of stubbornness is required to continue being optimistic in the face of less than ideal situations. A positive outlook is important despite the odds. An individual with a positive outlook tends to give his or her best to a task while being fully aware of the risks.
Not everything turns out fine all the time. And yet, the biggest hurdles that people have overcome has been with the help of a dose of optimism.
You give your best. And then hope for the best out of life.
Optimism Is Essential For Leadership
People are not motivated to follow the example or be influenced by pessimists.
Being optimistic is a desirable trait for making the most of what life gives you. It defines a person’s enthusiasm for what can be achieved despite difficult situations.
In less-than-ideal outcomes, an optimistic leader does not yield to pessimism.
What does this mean to you? If you are an optimist, life seems to work out alright (or better than expected). Negative events roll off your shoulders and you carry on with the firm belief that life will get better. If you are a pessimist, there is hope – negative thought patterns can be changed. You can use a variety of tools and techniques to start re framing your negative thoughts and start expecting the best for your life.
