Being happy may have a very significant and positive effect on one’s success. Indeed, as explained in an interview published by Forbes, the brain is more effective when it is working at positive, not neutral or stressed. Because happiness is also a choice, making the choice to cultivate happiness may lead to other smart choices in life, like perceiving stressors as challenges rather than negative emotions, or being more productive instead of waiting around for a response. On the other hand, when a person is unhappy, they may lack motivation that is necessary to take action for success.
Things You Can Do to Be Happier
There are a number of things that you can do to be happier; remember, happiness is a choice that is the result of behavioral and mindset shifts. Some things that you can do to put yourself on a happier (and more successful) path include:
- write down positive experiences you have;
- write down things you are grateful for;
- exercise daily;
- spend time with family and friends;
- meditate for at least two minutes every day;
- do something kind for someone else at random as often as possible; and
- rethink obstacles in life as challenges that you can overcome rather than stressors.
Try to do the above things every single day for at least one month. At the end of the month, check in with yourself. How are you feeling? Do you think that your actions towards a happier lifestyle have had a positive effect on your life and success?
