Small Daily Actions Lead To Big Habits
Want to become a prolific reader? Start by reading at least a single page every day. To stick to a regular gym routine, start by working out for five minutes a day.
Most habits start as small actions repeated over time. As time progresses, the complexity and duration of these habits increase naturally.
The mistake most people make is to start making big changes in the hope of creating lasting habits.
Small Starts Lead To Big Habits
When you focus on doing the minimal amount of work to create a habit, it is impossible to procrastinate. It removes the danger of being overwhelmed.
The key is not to focus on the BIG goal but rather the SMALL starts.
Start with a big audacious goal and work backward to figure out the basic first step to get started. That basic step is all you need to focus on for now. Keep doing it until it becomes an automatic habit.
Keep The Habit Going
Now, all you have to ensure is that you keep that small action going as often as possible. Don’t worry about the results. Habits are about consistent actions and not about consistent results.
Your priority is to create the habit. The results follow naturally.
At the end of the day, nobody really cares how many pages you read today. Only you should care about what you did with your day. Have you worked on the habits that will lead to long-term results?
If not, remember – start small and keep going.
