We all have some good and some bad in us. Which means that in relationships, we are often faced with the dilemma of forgiving someone who has done something wrong to us. And it also means that we are constantly having to ask for other people’s forgiveness too.
Should you ask for someone’s forgiveness when you are aware that you were at fault?
Forgiveness Leads To Better Relationships
Forgiving someone does not mean you ignore the harm someone caused you through an evil act. It means that their past actions no longer serve as a barrier to the relationship. It acts as a catalyst to a fresh start. So, if you want a stronger relationship, then it is appropriate to apologize and start fresh.
Apologizing to someone and asking them to forgive you shows that you care about the relationship. It also shows that you are humble enough to admit your mistakes and take responsibility for them.
Often, we are guilty of half-cooked apologies. We say sorry and then tell the other person what they did wrong. And consequently, their defense mechanisms rise up to match your accusations.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Love is the only force capable of transforming people. When you apologize and are forgiven, it shows that you are loved. It shows that you love enough to set things right.
