Spring Cleaning Your Budget – Be More Financially Successful
As the flowers begin to bloom and the birds begin to chip before sunrise, a feeling of freshness and newness takes over the earth. But the world is not the only thing that’s in for a surprise come springtime – it’s time to freshen up your budget, too. Here’s how:
Evaluate & Assess
Start by evaluating your current, and probably outdated, budget. What things are you spending money on that you no longer need? Or, have you experienced a salary increase or have some other increase in income? If so, does your budget take this into account?
Look at Your Spending & Bills
Most of us have recurring bills every single month. These may include, but are not limited to: water, gas, heating, car payment, rent/mortgage, Netflix, cable, internet, etc. Check out your bills and your automatic deductions – do you really need to be spending over $100 on cable??
Prioritize Your Spending
Spring is the time to sit down and think about what is really important to you. Some people love to go out to eat, others love new clothes, others are proud of the car they drive, and yet others love to see the money pile up in their savings account. What is most important to you? Are you putting money towards that thing?
